  • Lives alone or spends significant periods alone, and can't alert someone by other means
  • Other risk strategies have been discussed or provided, such as home modifications, self-care equipment or falls education
  • Has the physical and cognitive ability to use the device correctly

Not eligible through EnableNSW

  • Clients on a Home Care Package or Support at Home
  • Clients living in residential aged care
  • NDIS participants
  • Clients assessed as financial Band 3

FAQ

Common Questions

Who can prescribe a CareAlert alarm through EnableNSW?

The prescriber must be a registered Occupational Therapist. Complete the EnableNSW Personal Alarm Equipment Request Form and send it to EnableNSW, who will assess it.

Do I need to place an order with CareAlert?

No. Once EnableNSW approves the request, they place the order directly with CareAlert. You're welcome to call us with product questions at any time.

Why are the alarms non-monitored?

EnableNSW funds non-monitored personal alarms. When the button is pressed, the alarm calls the client's nominated family or friends and can call Triple Zero.

My client is on Support at Home or the NDIS. Can they get an alarm?

Not through EnableNSW, but yes through their own funding. Clients on Support at Home (or a Home Care Package) and NDIS participants can have a CareAlert alarm funded through their plan. Call us on 1300 75 85 95 and we'll help.

Is the SIM card included?

Yes. EnableNSW covers the first 12 months of SIM upfront, so the alarm works straight out of the box.

What happens after the first 12 months?

The client can continue on our Family & Friends SIM plan for $87 per year (or $26.85 per quarter), or upgrade to 24/7 professional monitoring by our Australian monitoring centre.

Can my client have 24/7 professional monitoring instead of the non-monitored alarm?

Yes. EnableNSW funds the non-monitored alarm and the first 12 months of SIM. If your client would prefer 24/7 monitoring by our Australian monitoring centre — from day one or at any time later — this can be arranged as a separately paid upgrade. Call us on 1300 75 85 95 for current pricing.

How quickly will my client receive the alarm?

Orders received before 12pm ACST are dispatched the same day. Alarms arrive pre-programmed with free shipping, and we provide setup support by phone.

What if my client's needs change?

Call us on 1300 75 85 95. We can update contacts, re-program the device, or talk through other options.

Free CPD Session for OT Teams

We offer a complimentary 30–45 minute in-house education session on personal alert systems, covering fall detection, emergency response and assessment considerations. A Certificate of CPD Participation is provided. Available for groups of 5 or more OTs.

To arrange a session, call 1300 75 85 95 or email office@carealert.com.au.
