CareAlert “Zero Upfront” Rental Plan

Terms & Conditions (Effective 13 November 2025)


1. Service Overview

You are renting a CareAlert Personal Alarm System (“Unit”) at $0 device cost. You pay only:

  • $37 one-time Programming & Setup Fee (includes postage)
  • $42 per month for 24/7 monitored emergency response
  • Initial payment: $79 (Setup + Month 1)

No lock-in contract – cancel anytime by returning the Unit (see Clause 4).


2. Eligibility

This offer is available only for:

  • At-Home Units
  • GPS/Emergency Watch Mobile Units

Not available for commercial, bulk, or institutional use.


3. Payment Terms

  • Accepted methods: Credit/Debit Card or Direct Debit (auto-recurring)
  • Billing cycle: Monthly in advance
  • First payment ($79) due at signup
  • Subsequent payments ($42) auto-debited on the same day each month
  • Failed payments may incur a $15 reprocessing fee
  • We reserve the right to suspend monitoring after 7 days of non-payment

4. Cancellation & Return

You may cancel anytime with no early exit fees.

To cancel:

  1. Notify us via email: support@carealert.com.au
  2. Or call 1300 75 85 95
  3. Return the complete Unit (device, charger, pendant/necklace, manual) within 14 days of cancellation
  4. Use the prepaid reply satchel included with your order

Unit is considered returned when scanned by Australia Post.


5. Non-Return = Purchase Obligation

If the complete Unit is not returned within 14 days of cancellation:

  • You will be auto-charged $399 (full retail value)
  • This amount is due within 7 days
  • Failure to pay converts the rental to a sale – monitoring ends, no further fees

Lost/damaged units: $399 replacement fee applies (see Clause 7).


6. What’s Included

  • 1 × CareAlert Unit (your choice: Home, Watch or GPS)
  • Pre-paid return satchel
  • Professional programming & testing
  • 24/7 emergency monitoring

7. Your Responsibilities

  • Keep the Unit charged and in good working order
  • Report faults within 7 days
  • Do not modify, disassemble, or sell the Unit
  • Return in original condition (fair wear and tear accepted)

Excess damage (beyond fair wear) may incur repair/replacement fees up to $399.


8. Monitoring & Response

  • 24/7 Australian-based emergency response centre
  • They will attempt to contact you, followed by emergency services then your nominated responders
  • If unreachable, we may dispatch ambulance/police (at your cost if non-emergency)
  • Fall detection (if selected) is not 100% accurate – not a substitute for caution

9. Privacy & Data

  • We collect name, address, health info, and emergency contacts
  • Used only for alarm response and service delivery
  • Stored securely under Australian Privacy Principles (APP)

10. Liability

  • We are not liable for delays in response due to network, power, or user error
  • Max liability capped at 12 months of monitoring fees
  • You indemnify us against misuse of the service

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these T&Cs with 30 days’ notice via email. Continued use after changes = acceptance.
